These are just infection control techniques that were recommended after the AIDS outbreak in 1980's. So, basically these are a set of precaustions that have been designed to prevent infectious diseases. (examples: HIV, Hep.B virus)

These precaustions apply to bodily fluids such as blood, semen, vaginal secretions, certains tissues, cerebrospinal fluid, synovial, pleural, perotoneal, precardial, and amniotic fluid.

Precautions do not apply to : Feces, nasal secretions, sputum sweat tears, urine, vomit (puke)...UNLESS: they contain visible blood.

SO WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR PROPER PRECAUTIONS???

>>Use of Gloves, gowns, aprons, masks, protective eyeware
(whether you are a healthcare worker, caregiver, or simply a family member taking care of someone who is sick...these apply to everyone!!)

*Wear disposible gloves when you come in contact with blood and any of the other fluids mentioned above.
*WASH YOU HANDS!!! esp. before & after using the bathroom facitilies
wash your hands after everything! whether it's after work, cooking, eating always wash your hands!
by washing hands I mean >> spending atleast 15-30 seconds soaking ur hands with soap and rinsing it with water!
*Keep your work environment, home, bathrooms, all your equipment sterile(CLEAN)...
*Dispose your trash to it's appropriate place!

1/4 people, on general basis, don't wash their hands after using the washroom facilities...

makes ya wonder doesn't it?
