A daily has carried reports that the actress, who is currently dating England-based cricketer Usman Khan, is tying the knot with him in December. A visibly upset Arora said, “This is ridiculous. Why doesn’t the press understand that false and baseless reports can have an adverse effect on an actress’ career? It is high time that the media gets responsible when it comes to saying anything in print.”

Amrita said that the rumours had actually marred her chances of bagging a big banner film. Sources have it that director Subhash Ghai had approached her to play the lead in a Mukta Arts film. The film, however, would not be directed by Ghai himself but another director.

Though she did not want to reveal the banner, Amrita admits, “Yes, I had been approached by a big banner producer. But he clearly told me that, if the marriage rumour was true then he was not willing to sign me for his film. See, this is what I mean when I say that it can have an adverse effect on an actress’ career. Anyway, I will soon be signing the film. I made it clear to him that there were no plans for marriage in the near future.”

Arora said that she had always been open about her relationships. “If I was serious about settling down in marital bliss, I would be open about it to the press. I am open about my relationship with cricketer Usman Khan. Earlier also I was honest with the press. Then why do they print untrue and fabricated news? Just to fill a space is it? The day I decide to tie the knot, I will be the first person to let the press know about it,” she adds
