Rep Power: 295 | Zinda - Dies A Slow Death [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here to Register, Or Login in the login box above.]Director-Sanjay Gupta Recent movie of this director-Musafir. Characters-> Sanjay Dutt(Balajit Roy) Celina-(Balajit's wife) Mahesh Manjerakar(Joy, Balajit's school friend) Lara Dutta-Jinnie Raj Zutsi-Some Professional John Abraham-Negative Role Why would you cage a man for 14 years? The dark side of human mind is exposed whilst answering this question. Yet, the film leaves more questions than answers at the end. The story starts with Balajit Roy (Sanjay Dutt), a software professional, enjoying his first anniversary with his wife (Celina) & school friend Joy (Mahesh Manjerakar) in Bangkok. Things take a turn for the worse when Roy finds himself in a dark room one day. For 14 years, he is served the same wonton (Chinese bhajiya), and basic amenities of life along with T.V. to keep him Zinda. The jail cell also has a CCTV that keeps an eye on his activities. He learns how to fight from the T.V., which he never really uses. Bala is left free in an Armani Suit with a mobile and enough cash to find out why he was put in jail. He hires a Taxi that is driven by Jinnie (Lara Dutta) who tries hard to play the modern day Basanti (Sholay), but fails to do justice to the role. They go on a wonton tasting spree in Bangkok and finally nab a professional (Raj Zutsi) who cages people for the sake of money. The villian obviously is John Abraham. But the movie ends with a thud when you find out why he caged Balajit for 14 long years. Some Points----> The first half is gripping and very well focused on the subject. The story drags & confuses in the second half where Bala’s chase could have been more interesting. Sanjay Dutt has given a power packed performance in the movie. Celina Jaitley has a guest appearance, but is mentioned in the credits as the second lead heroine. Lara Dutta is strictly O.K. John Abraham is impressive in some scenes - the negative role suits him though. The background score gels with the storyline. Sadly the movie is very depressing and gory due to the brutal bloodshed, which is generally not accepted by ppl who come for ENTERTAINMENT. Rated-three stars*** | |
