 Ajay Devgan makes directorial debut with ‘U, Me Aur Hum’
Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan who carved a niche for himself by portraying variety of roles in movies ranging from action to comedy, and romantic, is now poised to take his career in a new direction.
The actor, who had tried his hand in production a few years ago, makes his directorial debut with ”U, Me Aur Hum!” which went on the floors this week.
The film, a Devgan Films venture, stars Ajay and his actress wife Kajol in the lead.
Produced and directed by Ajay Devgan, this romantic flick stars Sumeet Raghvan, Karan Khanna and Isha Sharvani along with Ajay and Kajol.
Written by Robin Bhatt, Sutanu Gupta and Akarsh Khurana, the film has dialogues by Ashwani Dheer, music by Vishal Bharadwaj, lyrics by Munna Dhiman and costumes by Anna Singh and Manish Malhotra.
The film was launched at a low-key ”mahurat” attended by the cast and crew, held at Manoranjan Studio, Andheri on April 30 and the first shooting schedule will flag off on a cruise liner on May 5.
The film is slated for a January 2008 release.
Ajay’s last release ”Omkara” and ”Golmaal” did well at the box office. His upcoming films include Rajkumar Santoshi’s ”Halla Bol” where he plays an actor and Ramgopal Varma’s ”Sholay” in which he essays the role of Viru immortalised by Dharmendra in the original directed by Ramesh Sippy.
Ajay has produced ”Raju Chacha” and ”Dil Kya Kare” in which he acted opposite Kajol after their marriage.
”When people ask me why I took up direction, I reply that I have always followed my heart, and this time, I said I need to direct. I am not at all nervous about my first venture and there is no confusion in my mind that this is the right thing for me. I am very excited about ‘U, Me Aur Hum’ and I hope it does well,” Ajay told reporters after the ”mahurat”. |
