Mandira Bedi is once again in the news. Though not for a good reason. She was seen dancing on the ramp wearing a tattoo of Eik Omkar Sikh's religious symbol on her back.

Taking a serious note, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has sought an unconditional public apology from her.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee secretary Harbeant Singh on Wednesday said this semi clad actress has earlier also attempted to belittle the character of Sikhs by holding various programmes.

Censuring her attempt to disgrace Sikhs' religious symbol, Harbeant said the religious sentiments were severely hurt due to her act.

He said Mandira should immediately seek apology form the Panth. Meanwhile, activists of the Shiromani Youth Akali Dal burnt the effigy of Mandira Bedi to give vent to their ire...

agar hai taan us time ih sab kiun nahi hoyia... plz mainu teek karo agar mai kisi jagah te galat aa...

It all stays in the mind...

Music for one is noise for another...

But yes, while we talk of public heroes / celebs etc, everyone calls for model and ideal behaviour - no matter how bad they themselves are...

"Amitabh bachchan smoking in public" will call for more widespread attention / protests than "Mr Shayamal Banerjee (any common man) smoking"

We ourselves are losing our traditional and religious values - but we have high expectations especially when religion comes-in... and why not, no one in the world would allow disrespect to anything of religious importance...

Thanks for the thought provoking discussion Vicky, I'd suggest more comments from LCians, while keeping religion away from the discussion...
