A heart attack happens when heart muscle tissues dies because its supply of oxegenated blood has been cut off.Usually, a blood clot gets stuck in a coronary artery that has been narrowed through atherosclerosis. The supply of blood is cut off and the heart tissue beyond the clot is starved of oxygen. A heart attack feel just like angina , except the pain doesn't go away with rest and medication.If the heart attack damages the heart's electric system ,or if a lot of the heart muscle is affected, the heart may stop beating.This is cardiac arrest.
Doctors now have drugs to dissolve the blood clot,but they work best if given right away.This is why u have to get a casualty with a suspected heart attack to the hospoital right away--the longer medical help is delayed,the more likely the heart will be damaged or stop beating. The medical term for heart attack is...myocardial infarction
